Copenhagen – Amongst the most Liveable Cities in the World
Copenhagen is a clean, peaceful, and safe city with a low crime rate. It is a green, bicycle-friendly city that has multiple awards for being the world’s most liveable city. The culture is informal and deeply rooted in a thousand-year-long history, upon which stunning architecture, design, and world class Nordic gastronomy has been built. Denmark is a knowledge-based society with a strong history in the field of parasitology, and several institutes working actively in the field of parasitology are located in Copenhagen.
Copenhagen has extensive experience in hosting large congresses and has in recent years been welcoming a range of large congresses, such as ECCMID 2015, EAACI 2014, ESPEN 2016, and the record-breaking ESMO 2016 with 20,500 delegates. All these were held in Bella Center Copenhagen – the venue we propose for ICOPA XV 2022.
Congress venue: Bella Center Copenhagen
ICOPA XV 2022 would be held in Bella Center Copenhagen, the largest conference venue in Scandinavia. Bella Center Copenhagen is optimally located close to the airport and only 9 minutes from the city centre. Bella Center Copenhagen is an ultra-modern venue which stages meetings, conferences, congresses, exhibitions and events of all sizes from 20 to 20,000 delegates. It is a unique facility known to many as one of the most beautiful venues in Europe. As an ICOPA venue, it is optimal.
Accommodation for the ICOPA XV participants
Copenhagen offers a wide variety of hotel accommodation ranging from luxurious 5-star hotels to very affordable budget hotels and hostels. With a total of more than 21,000 hotel rooms in all categories, the ICOPA XV participants will have ample choice. The hotel capacity has expanded by more than 50% in the last 10 years and ten more hotels with 3.000 rooms will open in the next four years.
Infrastructure: Transportation and accessibility
Copenhagen Airport is the main hub in Scandinavia and has easy access from all continents. With direct flights to 157 destinations, including 32 intercontinental routes, and more than 4,000 weekly departures it is very easy to get to Copenhagen from all over the world. Once here, the transfer from the airport to the city center takes only 9 minutes – the fastest airport-to-city-center link among European capital cities.
Social events, sightseeing, and tours
In addition to the scientific and professional contents of the congress, a range of social opportunities for networking and for enjoying Copenhagen and its surroundings will be provided. Wonderful Copenhagen CVB will be happy to provide suggestions for this. Moreover, we will suggest a range of pre- and post-congress activities in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Nordic-Baltic region.
